After a call out over the radio on the Colin Hayes show we responded with an offer of a polytunnel to Trevor who was managing the overall project. 2 days later we had the team up on site building a 14ft x 24ft Gardener’s Choice for the group. You can see the team in action on Dirty Old Town’s first show of the season on Wednesday the 1th April. The Summerhill group had done a great deal of work in clearing the site and trying to get the project up and running but just ran short of money to get the whole scheme over the finishing line so CWP were delighted to sponsor a tunnel to help them further. The CWP team had the tunnel up in one day and their efforts can be viewed on television. If you missed the show it is available on the RTE Player service: URL http://www.rte.ie/player/#!v=1143638

We wish all the guys success in their continued efforts in Summerhill and the other areas that the team is working on around the country.

Polytunnels are an inexpensive alternative to traditional farm buildings…The original sheep or cattle tunnels were adapted from horticultural tunnels. As animal management as evolved, so has the Polytunnel! CWP has been manufacturing Polytunnel structures for over 35 years and consequently, our structures and fixtures can be adapted to suit the needs of the livestock and the farmer. A variety of options and sizes are available to suit the farmer’s budget.

A CWP livestock shelter provides the farmer with a flexible feeding solution for their animals. Feeds can be prepared, mixed with supplements and placed into the feed bins before the animals are brought into the shelter.

Our shelters can also be built with a central ‘service’ tunnel. The service tunnel option provides the farmer with a completely covered feeding area and a dry place to keep equipment/machinery/feeds (or as an additional storage area) .

What are the benefits of investing in our polytunnel structures:

PROTECT YOUR FIELDS: A covered stand-off area allows you to hold cows/sheep off the field for extended periods, reducing field damage in poor weather conditions. Also allowing the fields to recover and remain in a productive state.

CONTROL EFFLUENT RUN-OFF: Covering concrete pads creates an intensive collection area for effluent. It reduces the amount of uncontrolled run-off caused by rain in the wetter months. As a result there is an easing of loads on effluent ponds/waste.

COMPOSTING: Where areas have compost floor bedding e.g. woodchips, etc . This bedding can effectively absorb effluent. Aeration by rotary, rake, hoe etc maintains the health of the bedding and reduce the build-up of bacteria. The compost can be collected and distributed on the farm as a dry fertilizer that can add value to your soil and also save you money on fertilizer costs.

LONGER LIFE OF BEDDING: Our stand-off structures will extend the life of your chosen bedding materials. Hitherto bedding materials would rot or blow away but within a covered area, bedding is protected from the weather conditions.

BETTER MANAGEMENT & CONTROL OF ANIMAL FEEDING: Our animal shelters provide a low stress enclosed environment for your animals. They can stand or lay comfortably out of the weather and remain rested compared to when in the field. Animals will usually consume less food, thus less energy while still maintain weight.

PROTECT YOUR ANIMALS FROM INJURY: Covering over your concreted area with a polytunnel keeps the area relatively dry resulting in less slips and injury to your animals.

Do you need to replace your polythene? Maybe you just need to repair those small nicks and tears. We have special Repair tape that will fix those small tears..
If you think you need the complete sheet: We can offer you high quality horticultural film:
(1) Clear UVI Polythene 800G complete with Thermic and Anti-drip condensation properties
(2) Diffused 840G film complete with Thermic and Anti-drip condensation properties
We also can source other types of polythene e.g. white, ivory, green/white polythene.
We recommend that you use Anti Hot spot tape on the steelwork before installing/cladding with the film as it prolongs the life of the film. Steelwork can heat up and then rubs and wears against the polythene. If you put a layer of tape on all steelwork, it reduces the wear and tear on the polythene, thus getting longer life out of your polythene.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact ...
